Freelance Web Developer - Self Employed April 2026 - Present

Designed and developed websites for local sports and community clubs, managing the full project lifecycle from concept through to deployment. Built responsive, dynamic frontends using React and custom CSS, hosted and managed media assets via AWS S3, and implemented automated CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline to streamline builds and deployments. 2CANA Solutions - Software Developer JAN 2023 - MAR 2026

Worked at 2CANA Solutions as a software developer in the insurance and medical aid industry, supporting multiple clients including a major medical aid provider and a major life insurance provider. Responsibilities included the development and maintenance of backend systems, encompassing bug fixes and enhancements to database tables, triggers, packages, letter templates, and forms. Regularly engaged with clients to gather requirements, design and implement technical solutions, and produce supporting technical documentation.

Projects

Clearing Legacy Unpaid Amounts

Led an investigation into unpaid amounts older than ten years that fell below a specified threshold. Coordinated and delegated tasks, maintained detailed records of all cleared balances, and produced comprehensive reports for auditors and actuaries, ensuring accurate financial records and audit compliance.

VAT increase

Led the project to update all VAT calculations on a client's legacy life insurance platform. Conducted an investigation phase, proposed and estimated multiple approaches, and met with the client to agree on the best way forward.

SFTP Migration

Delivered 20+ FTP to SFTP migrations, strengthening data security and compliance while coordinating stakeholders and updating automation and Linux environments.

Other achievements

  • Identified and resolved a bug in a client's life insurance policy status system that had been the root cause of several major data alignment issues for nearly a decade.
  • During a production outage, identified and fixed a Perl job that had been failing consistently in the early hours.
  • Received consistently high technical and productivity assessments.

PERSONAL

I code and control my computer using a voice recognition software called Talon . I create Python scripts to customise commands, to streamline workflow and improve productivity.

I also utilise Parrot , which uses AI to link various noises, such as clicking, to custom scripts. This involves training a machine learning model to recognise specific sounds accurately.

I also am a game enthusiast and regularly play Bridge and D&D.
